Product management head Shiva Rajaraman is leaving the streaming video service for Spotify. His departure comes as YouTube prepares to launch a music streaming service of its own.
"Shiva has done so much to help grow YouTube into what it is today," said a YouTube spokesman. "We wish him all the best, and know that the team he has put in place will continue to serve all our creators and viewers exceptionally well."
YouTube has lost several employees from its product team since advertising executive Susan Wojcicki replaced Salar Kamanjaras YouTube CEO in February. Product head Shishir Mehrotra departed in June for an advisory role at Google, and product manager Chris LaRosaleft in July.
Prior to joining Google, Rajaraman was a product manager at Twitter. While at YouTube, he was in charge of consumer facing products and was integral to the development of the forthcoming music subscription service. His departure was first reported by Re/Code.
